Anagrow
How the puzzle works
Start with a four-letter word. Then find the five-letter word that grows from it, then the six.
Each word keeps every letter from the one before and adds one new one. The letters can be in any order, so the five-letter word isn't simply the four-letter word with something stuck on the end.
After each guess, a green tile means the letter is in the right place, an amber tile means the letter is in the word but somewhere else, and a grey tile means it isn't in the word at all. The letters you've found collect in the tray under the puzzle: tap one to type it, or shuffle them to help spot the next word.
Three ways to play
Daily is one ladder a day, the same for everyone. You have fourteen guesses for the whole ladder, not fourteen per word, and solving it each day grows your streak.
Unlimited is ladder after ladder, whenever you like, with fourteen guesses for each one.
Sunset is one ladder against a clock that counts up from 0:00. There's no limit on guesses: solve it as fast as you can, and your best time is your score.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes, one Daily a day, and it's the same one for everyone. It changes at midnight, your local time, and Home shows how long until the next one. Unlimited and Sunset are always there if you'd like more in the meantime.
How do hints work?
There are two, in every mode. Rule out greys a letter that isn't in any word left in the ladder: you get three free for each ladder, and a short video gives you three more. Reveal shows you a letter you're missing or, once you have them all, puts one in its square. Each Reveal is after a short video. Hints never use up a guess or affect your streak.
I've run out of guesses.
In the Daily and Unlimited, you can watch a short video for three more guesses, once for each ladder, or end the game to see the words. Sunset has no limit on guesses, so you can't run out there.
I missed a day. Can I keep my streak?
If it was just one day, usually yes. Home offers to keep your streak for a short video before you play today's Daily, as long as you haven't repaired it in the last week. Then solve today's Daily to keep it growing. With Remove ads, one repair a month is free. If you'd rather start again, tap Start fresh.
Will my progress come with me to a new phone?
Yes, if you use the same account. On iPhone, Anagrow backs up your streak, stats, Spelling and Sound effects choices to your own iCloud (with the same Apple Account), and brings them back when you install it on a new iPhone or reinstall it. On Android, the same copy is part of your phone's backup to your Google account, if backup is turned on. Today's Daily comes across as far as you'd got; an Unlimited or Sunset game you're partway through doesn't, and nor do your reminder and privacy settings. We can't see either copy.
What does Remove ads do?
It's a one-off purchase that takes away the banners and full-screen ads for good. It also gives you one free Reveal in every game and one free streak repair a month. The optional videos are still there whenever you want more guesses, more Rule outs or another Reveal.
I bought Remove ads. How do I get it back on a new phone?
Anagrow checks with the App Store when it opens (with Google Play on Android), so Remove ads comes back by itself as long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account (or Google account). If it doesn't, open the menu (top left) and tap Restore purchase.
The ad won't load.
Ads need a connection, and sometimes there's simply no video available at that moment. If one can't load, Anagrow tells you and keeps trying in the background, so try again in a minute or two. The game never waits for an ad: if a banner or full-screen ad can't load, it's just skipped.
Can I play without a connection?
Yes. All three modes are on your phone, so you can play them anywhere. You need a connection to watch a video (for more guesses, Rule outs, a Reveal or a streak repair), to buy or restore Remove ads, and to back up to iCloud. Banners and full-screen ads only appear when you're online.
How do I turn reminders on or off?
Open the menu (top left) and use the Daily reminder switch. It's in Stats too, on the Daily tab. Reminders are off until you turn them on. They come at 9am at first, then a little before the time you usually play, and not at all once you've played that day. If notifications are off for Anagrow, it'll point you to the iPhone's Settings to turn them on.
Can I have American spelling?
Yes. Open the menu and tap Spelling to choose British or American. It starts on the one for your region, and changes how Anagrow spells a few words, like colour and grey. The puzzles stay the same, and both spellings count when you guess.
How do I turn the sounds off?
Open the menu (top left) and use the Sound effects switch. The sounds play even when your phone is on silent, as in most games, and your own music or podcast keeps playing alongside them.
How do I change my privacy choices?
Open the menu (top left) and tap Privacy options, or find it at the bottom of Stats. It appears if you're in a region where we asked for your consent. To change whether Anagrow can track you, go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. There's more on the privacy page.
I think a word in a puzzle is wrong.
Please tell us. We check the word lists carefully but they're long, and a word that's fine in one part of the world can look very odd in another. For the Daily, send us the date and the word. For Unlimited or Sunset, send us the ladder's three words. We'll take a look.
Quizmo
How Quizmo works
Quizmo has three games. Quiz has over 10,000 multiple-choice questions in ten categories, each with a fun fact: play a ten-question Quick play round, or Build a round with your own categories, length and difficulty. World asks you to name countries from their flags and their outlines on a globe. Logos asks you to name the brands behind logos with the names taken off.
In World and Logos, levels open as you name things, so you can skip the ones you don't know. Pass and play lets two to four players take turns on one phone.
How do hints work?
In World and Logos, a hint comes in three steps: the first letter and the length, then more letters, then the answer. The first step is free. Unless you've bought Remove ads, more letters and the answer each ask you to watch a short ad first. With ads removed, every hint is ad-free.
I bought Remove ads. How do I get it back on a new phone?
On iPhone, Quizmo checks with the App Store when it opens, so Remove ads comes back by itself as long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account. On Android, it checks with Google Play when it opens. On either, you can ask again with Settings > Restore purchases.
Will my progress come with me to a new phone?
Yes, if you use the same account. On iPhone, Quizmo backs up your progress to your own iCloud. On Android, it's part of your phone's backup to your Google account, if backup is turned on, and your Haptics and Reminders settings come too. We can't see either copy.
The questions or logos don't suit where I live.
Quizmo picks regional questions and Logos levels for where you are: UK, US, Australia & New Zealand, or Rest of world. You can change it in Settings > Region.
I think a question is wrong.
After you answer, tap Report this question under the fun fact and pick a reason. We read every report. If you'd like to tell us more, email us with the question.
How do I turn reminders on or off?
Settings > Reminders. Reminders are off until you turn them on.
How do I change my privacy choices?
Settings > Privacy choices (Privacy in Quizmo 1.0). Where Google's consent form applies, it opens again so you can change your answers. On iPhone, you can also go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. There's more on the privacy page.
How do I have my data deleted?
Copy your support ID in Quizmo (Settings > About Quizmo > Copy my support ID; on iPhone, from Quizmo 1.1.0) and email it to us with the subject "Delete my Quizmo data". The privacy page explains what we delete and how long it takes.

It helps if you say which game it's about and mention your phone model and its software version, but don't worry if you'd rather not.
