Anagrow privacy policy

Last updated 26 August 2026

This policy covers Anagrow, our iPhone word puzzle. If we release other games later, each one will have its own policy, because each one will handle things differently.

The short version: there is no account, your puzzle progress stays on your phone, and the only information that leaves the device is what the ads and the crash reporting need in order to work.

What stays on your phone

Your progress, your streak, your stats and which puzzles you have played are stored on your device and nowhere else. We cannot see them, and we have no server holding a copy. If you delete the app, they go with it.

There is nothing to sign up for and we never ask for your name, email address or date of birth.

Ads

Anagrow is free, and ads pay for it. Ads are optional in the sense that you only ever see one if you choose to watch it, either to carry on after running out of guesses or to play a bonus puzzle.

Ads are supplied by Google AdMob. AdMob may also fill an ad through other advertising partners, and that list can change over time. As of the date above it includes Meta Audience Network.

To show an ad, these partners may receive your device's advertising identifier, general location at country or city level derived from your IP address, and basic device information such as model and operating system version. This can be used to choose which ad to show you and to measure whether it worked.

We do not send your puzzle results, your streak or anything else about how you play to advertisers.

Your choices

If you are in the UK or the EEA

The first time you open Anagrow you are asked whether you consent to personalised ads. You can change that answer at any time using the privacy settings option on the how to play screen.

Tracking permission

iOS also asks whether Anagrow may track you across other apps and websites. If you say no, advertising partners do not receive your advertising identifier. You can change this later in the Settings app, under Privacy and Security, then Tracking.

Everywhere else

You can limit ad personalisation on your device in the Settings app, under Privacy and Security, then Apple Advertising.

Analytics and crash reports

Anagrow uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand roughly how the game is being played, for example how many people finish a puzzle or use a bonus round, and Firebase Crashlytics to find out when the app has crashed so we can fix it.

These collect app usage events, a randomly generated app instance identifier, and device and operating system details. They do not collect your name or contact details, and we cannot use them to identify you personally.

If you decline consent in the UK or EEA, this data is collected in a reduced, non-personalised form.

Children

Anagrow is rated suitable for ages four and up because the content is harmless, but it is not designed for or directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please email us and we will look into it.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to how it is used.

In practice we hold almost nothing: your game data never reaches us, and the advertising and analytics data is not linked to your identity. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. If you want to make a request or ask what we hold, email us at the address below and we will respond within one month.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you think we have handled your data badly.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Anagrow handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Worth a look if you have not read it in a while.
